In a speech on 28th Nov 1941, Sir C.V. Raman said, “I would like to tell the young men and women in front of me not lose hope and courage. Success only comes to you by courageous devotion to the task lying in front of you. In India we have abundant human material. The quality of an Indian mind is equal to any Teutonic, Nordic or Anglo-Saxon mind. What we lack is perhaps the courage, what we lack is perhaps the driving force which takes one any where. We need a spirit of victory, concentration, and physical strength. If these qualities were to arise then nothing can hold us from achieving our rightful destiny.”
